Though, I keep remembering a question from someone I know: "When are you going to move from watercolor to a more advanced media, like acrylic or oil?" It is baffling and quite sad that instead of learning about a subject, some people would rather put it in a rigid frame of simple rules, and keep quoting with authority stale beliefs from dusty books of centuries past. </p><p>I'll play with acrylics as it gives me pleasure and do watercolors, when I miss the challenge. Each of them teaches me something. </p>Blagahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06596986317236711714noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3634896118460400027.post-39260071528761226352023-12-30T21:10:00.004-05:002023-12-30T21:10:49.873-05:00Seascape studies in acrylic<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihfqnD2BoEqehvT0RFf_kstOdoK-Eio4Oe3_tGUbYBDXilneA6QFGsAOxB7DGkHKvZ_6x7wJmbt_MlH_l0QECjGIjHjQOYH9cIsMqYNxQD0WVDYsunR46-gsowveSzKkR-ULFnPjmD8uuHGiQhgfhRmihmmxjT55eVbuSfMOrbf4x6tK7-6wSG3aO8ZdTO/s437/20231230_SeaStudy2.jpg" style="display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding: 1em 0px; text-align: center;"><img alt="" border="0" data-original-height="325" data-original-width="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaCGfedzu9-GKO2EYa1cnTKSShx267LOfHLdEFIFrkrFgYzrrb07Z_LU7ZWoAumlCGUSo8OWByACj0noOyg3jLfyR8WsaSl-673RCyxknfXOpHdm9PUs1EPRH5uktPBdWWQoGKRpL_1bZVHiEcmZMpnB8bLQIDfB9kvdtieN9hDc6q5pgIdWpdsBHUeacr/s320/20231230_SeaStudy4.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Sea study 4, acrylic 6" x 4.5"</td></tr></tbody></table><br />I wanted to figure out how to paint the sea with only a palette knife. I can't agree more! Another change I notice for myself, is that I have started to appreciate and enjoy the autumn more than I used to. This year the summer was nice and hot and the cool nights started steadily in September. Both required conditions for a magnificent display of autumn colors. <br />This is passed now and the threes dropped their colorful attire, but there will be some Indian summer days to enjoy.</p>Blagahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06596986317236711714noreply@blogger.com2Hwy 27 / Langstaff Rd, Vaughan, ON L4L 6E6, Canada43.791294 -79.62592343.766512024301107 -79.660255275390625 43.816075975698894 -79.591590724609375tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3634896118460400027.post-8611722382749460282020-07-26T20:30:00.001-04:002020-07-26T20:30:58.480-04:00Purple Baby<br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnfzFiEtrILWjAhZHs8U54l9IuTp36dKApQlHXnaP7by-req3S0xEhxkH6_GkSSBgOB09vYBGhMaAqrycbxOdqLBvFPdXh-WcUo4zKBBJwuNXhZoSrl_GyWAZIVFvmTPyWwKXhE8bdG3d3/s636/20200726_PurpleBaby2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="636" data-original-width="517" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnfzFiEtrILWjAhZHs8U54l9IuTp36dKApQlHXnaP7by-req3S0xEhxkH6_GkSSBgOB09vYBGhMaAqrycbxOdqLBvFPdXh-WcUo4zKBBJwuNXhZoSrl_GyWAZIVFvmTPyWwKXhE8bdG3d3/s320/20200726_PurpleBaby2.jpg" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Purple baby 2, watercolor study<br /></td></tr></tbody></table><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgn-DFJnJrVLcdPnaxThctfpcfxCenAKv_B1BAFuF211Uh6tH8onuNyTtTWWr1EFDNVeMN1LI95GbbJFg_ktRJ3oSH53aCf8jdq2h3B55ZUZcrKso3DR2aEtkhprOD_FfuG89Fgy0ig0ZcL/s577/20200726_PurpleBaby1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="577" data-original-width="395" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgn-DFJnJrVLcdPnaxThctfpcfxCenAKv_B1BAFuF211Uh6tH8onuNyTtTWWr1EFDNVeMN1LI95GbbJFg_ktRJ3oSH53aCf8jdq2h3B55ZUZcrKso3DR2aEtkhprOD_FfuG89Fgy0ig0ZcL/s320/20200726_PurpleBaby1.jpg" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Purple baby 1, watercolor study<br /></td></tr></tbody></table><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br />Blagahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06596986317236711714noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3634896118460400027.post-18100587038691958712020-01-19T16:06:00.001-05:002021-02-17T08:02:35.400-05:00Industrial<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

Several interpretations of this photo that I took from the car while traveling in Cape Breton. I liked the directional clouds, but of course, didn't like the railings in the front. The beauty of painting, is that you can get rid of any unwanted objects and change things the way you like them.<br />
Not having painted for a long time, it took me several attempts to get to the fresh look of the watercolor above. Then experimented with acrylics, with different colors, one with a palette knife only and the other with brushes.<br />
