Los Voladores 1, watercolor 25 x 30 cm |
The photo is of one of the "flying men" (Los Voladoers), whom we watched performing an old Mexican ritual. It starts by dancing at the top of a very high post, after which four of the men launch down on ropes, spinning until they reach the ground. I was surprised to see that the performers were not young at all. And I was happy to be able to take a few good shots of their faces, which seemed so interesting to me.
It is wonderful Blaga.
ReplyDeleteI do not think it is over worked. It is just that watercolor always gives us unexpected surprises and we get a feeling that some thing has gone wrong. This looks fabulous and actually shows the age of the gentleman.
ReplyDeleteYou say "I think it isn't bad" I think "It's not bad it's brilliant"
ReplyDeleteA fabulous portrait, Blaga!
ReplyDeleteExcellent portait with a great skin color and expression...he seems so alive , great job ! xx
ReplyDeleteBlaga! This is such a wonderful portrait and not overworked at all!
ReplyDeleteThe colors are perfect and the expression is just wonderful. A very nice painting:)
Thank you, Maria!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you see it that way, Asit. I wished I had completed it in less washes, but it lacked depth and body and I kept going. But I felt my brush-strokes getting looser with the subsequent washes. Thank you!
You are very kind, Polly, thank you!
Thank you, Judy!
Thank you, Jane! I like how the skin tone came out - deeper bronze hue, which looks much reddish from the scanner.
Thank you so much, Renate!
Hi Blaga, Your portraits are stunning. I have been attempting to paint my grandbaby's precious face. I will post.
ReplyDeleteDear Blaga, if this is the result of insomnia .... is a fantastic result. You have a gift for portraiture! it seems that your portrait tells his own history .. You paint the soul along with faces of the people!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cathy! I would love to see your grand-baby's portrait
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Rita! I now think this is the best way to deal with insomnia ;)
