Los Voladores 2, watercolor 25 x 30 cm |
In the previous post I said that the face was overworked. But while working on this one, I realized how much I enjoyed examining all facial features and trying to depict them. So, while part of me would like to finish a painting in a few expressive brush-strokes, another part, the one that takes control, finds pleasure in the details. One day these two will probably come to an agreement. But for now, it is what it is. I'm happy with the result.
Tu peux être contente cette aquarelle est très belle, tu as mis l'accent sur ce qui te semblait important, laissant le reste suggéré. Le résultat est un magnifique portrait.
ReplyDeleteYou should be happy with the results! His face is full of character and is painted extraordinary well. I think portraits are the hardest thing to do in watercolour.
ReplyDeleteA great portrait, Blaga, very well painted! I can see why the details fascinated you, they make the character of the subject.
ReplyDeleteMerci, Lydie! C'est vrai, après avoir fini le visage, je n'avais aucun intérêt dans le reste. Je l'ai fait rapidement, laissant ainsi l'accent sur le visage.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Polly! People say that it's hard to paint portraits, in general. Yes, it does have it's challenges, but I find it so fun and satisfying... when the result is good :)
Thank you, Judy! Yes, this is a very interesting face, I liked it so much I took several photos of this guy. He may have wondered why...
Beautifully painted. I like the result..
ReplyDeleteEl minucioso trabajo dio como resultado los gestos y la expresión del personaje, una hermosa acuarela, felicitaciones por el trabajo
ReplyDeleteAnd you should be, it's a great portrait and like the one below it is so full of life ! But I know what you mean about being torn from doing a few strokes or doing some details... I always have the same feeling when doing a portrait :-)
ReplyDeleteDear Blaga, I love this wonderful series of portraits! The faces that you represent are as strong as those of real people!
ReplyDeleteComplicated topic that watercolors want lightness and looseness while I want to color and strength and expression. It is not always easy to put together, in fact I'm trying a new technique to represent a solid reality. And paint in the future with the watercolor symbolic representation and emotional, which can be, for me, even lightweight fluid and transparent.
I would like to stop suffering!
Il est très réussi ce portrait.Je trouve que c'est très dur de trouver le juste équilibre entre les valeurs et les couleurs. Bravo
ReplyDeleteHi Blaga, you are right to be happy, it is really a great portrait. You have perfectly painted the incredible expression of this man. Great! Have a good Sunday!
