Old Water Pot, watercolor, 22 x 28 cm |
I love ceramics. A few years ago I even did a couple of pottery classes, which unfortunately showed me that I lack the required strength in the arms and hands for decent results on the pottery wheel. But I didn't stop being fascinated by the endless variety of rounded shapes of old ceramic vessels and the lovely natural colors that traditional glazes produce.
So when I saw the picture of an interesting clay pot in this month's challenge at
Paint and Draw Together I had to give it a try. My focus were the colors of the glaze, so I painted only the pot for simplicity. Although, the carved wooden fragment and the shadow patterns on the floor are a composition each in itself too.
You really know how to PAINT pottery , you get a clear feeling of the material here, beautifully shiny, almost looks like oil.
ReplyDeleteyou've certainly created both colours and textures of the pot beautifully Blaga
ReplyDeleteThank you, dear Janes (wouldn't miss the opportunity to do this :)) I really appreciate your comments, especially coming from the two of you!
ReplyDeleteNow I know enough about you, dear Blaga, for remember your love for pottery ... always beautiful and interesting results because your pots have great presence and expressive power all its own. Art teachers recommend to painters to paint what they really love, to always have the most beautiful results ... They are really so right!
ReplyDeleteHi Blaga, I thought it was a photo.....you painted this water pot so beautifully, bravissima!! Abbraccio.
ReplyDeleteThe reflection and the blending of the colours in the pot are sublime, Blaga! It is such an interesting pot, I agree.
ReplyDeleteLes couleurs choisies sont belles et traduisent à elles seules ton amour pour la poterie. Bises!
ReplyDeleteThis true, Rita, the result seems to depend a lot on the artist's emotions. Thank you, for your nice words!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Tito, your words are very flattering! I exaggerated the values a bit, and I think this gives the object more presence.
Thank you, Judy! This glaze has a different color when you look at it from a different angle, so to quote a friend "I just painted what I saw" :)
Merci, Lydie! J'ai vraiment eu plaisir à peindre cette poterie
