It has been a while since my last post. After returning from a long absence my first task was to get the garden in order. I have been thinking about the similarities between gardening and painting. You make a plan, choose plants with the right color, size, blooming time, etc. But there is much left to chance in what comes out in the end. And if you try the same combination of plants at another spot, the result is never exactly the same.
These poppies bloomed yesterday in the backyard and today I sat outside to paint them, in a record hot weather. Half way through that process a cloud appeared, but I couldn't imagine rain on such a hot and sunny day. Well, five minutes later there was a thunderstorm and.... hail! I managed to get inside before any damage was done, but now the poppies are a sad sight. My consolation is that there are still a number of unopened buds.

Good you made the painting before that big cloud, poppies are so eye catching but ephemera , one has to be quick.
Welcome back Blaga.
Glad to read you again. Thou has beautifully immortalized these poppies, they are so fragile.
Hi you're back!
Great poppies! Glad you painted them before the storm!

Thank you, ladies, for the kind words! I am glad to be back too, to blogger and to my paints. I have been following the great works each of you has done in the last month but many times the limited throughput of my web connection prevented me from leaving any comments. Nice to be back again...
