Tunnel of Shade



Tunnel of Shade, watercolor 28 x 25 cm

This view attracted me with its light and contrasts, but all attempts to paint it ended up too overworked, or lacking the proper range of values. Today the irony occurred to me: I've been trying so hard to depict a dark tunnel leading to the light :) Maybe this isn't the right way to find inspiration and it's time to change the subject.

I tried my hand at landscapes and I find them so hard to paint. I know how I want them to look and they always turn out overworked. I like all of your three attempts, the last one is fabulous! The colours are pure and fresh, and the overhanging leaves are perfect. Funny that you changed the bend in the road to the right. :)

Hi, Blaga, please be kind to yourself. You're a hard worker, but never be tough on you. Another artist said, "It's just only a paper!" Yes, indeed. I will enjoy painting. Otherwise, my brush will never dance on paper. Best wishes, Sadami

This is a very common sight in the countryside. But turning it into a painting requires skill and trust me, you have it. Keep painting.
