I like them, Blaga, and they do look like weeping willows! I know how difficult to paint they are from the days long ago when I painted en plein air. You did a good job, there is depth in them!
Thank you for your encouragement, Judy! I seem unable to solve the controversy between the large shapes and the very fine branches. I start with a wash of the large shapes, which looks fresh, but quite flat. Then I go in to add details and darker shades. This adds depth, but destroys the freshness. I guess I have to figure out how to achieve both from the first wash, with very little additions afterwards...
It's not easy to paint good trees in an impressionist style. I find it very useful to buy "how to" videos so I can watch a technique being demonstrated. I have learned a lot that way - and going to as many workshops as you can on different styles of painting. Your tree does look like a willow. Jean
