Simple objects

These sketches are inspired by Judy's post  "From the kitchen...", which reminded me that one doesn't have to paint complex subjects to have fun. The simple objects around the home can do just fine.

Blaga, I love the pepper! The red is delicious! Isn't it fun to do simple everyday objects? I tried to do a bigger subject today but got caught up in the details...

Absolutely true Blaga, and simple object are not necessarily easy either. These are painted beautifully, great shapes and light, I like them both! xox

Thank you, Judy! I tried painting peppers some time ago and miserably failed, so I'm quite glad with this result. Although I wish I had your loose style...

Thank you, Renate! With simpler objects you don't need much time, or you can easily start over again and try different approaches.

Rita, I was using cadmium red before and had hard time producing shades, due to its opacity. I found a quinacridone red that has the same shade as cadmium (in the Da Vinci series it is called Rose Dore) but it is transparent. So it is much easier to produce more or less intense shades with it. No other secret :)

That's true, Jane, not necessarily easy. I failed to paint a pepper a few months ago and now it turned out good, so I must have made some progress :)
