Blaga, your Venice watercolor is stunning! People's figures look so realistic... I wonder what technique did you use to preserve the whites on them, or is it a gouache?

The first watercolor is totally fantastic for the synthesis, dear Blaga ..
Your Venice has become like a dream in which you move with absolute safety, from one channel to another, from one view to another. In second watercolor you painted the main characteristic of this city, the channels, with a great atmosphere chromatic and contrast. I hope when you "finish" Venice you post all watercolors together for the joy or our eyes, a really beautiful gallery!!!

Wonderful to see Venice is still inspiring you, Blaga. These and the previous ones are all stunning!

Thank you, Egle, Rita and Judy for your really nice comments! I am also surprised that something kept my interest for so long. Venice is really inspiring. Well it is starting to wear out - I feel the need for a change - but I am sure I'll be returning to it.
Egle, I used titanium white for the highlights over people's heads and shoulders. It's best if you can just preserve the white while painting, but that's really hard to do, slows you down and destroys the spontaneity of the painting. Masking creates thick and unnatural lines. Some watercolor purists would condone the use of white, but I think it works best and I try to use it very sparingly.
