These are absolutely beautiful, really love them. To me they are very difficult to paint because of the lack of leaves which can make the painting seem 'empty', but these are just wonderful !
Jane, I know what you are saying. I had a pot with several branches and turned it so that the flowers formed a mass. This helped me avoid the temptation to focus on each individual blossom.
Catharina, you are right, I kept them in front of the window to have the back-light give them this particular glow, which I was trying to capture.
He-he, Renate, yes, no pencil. I painted all the flowers first, as loose as I could, and then did the background, making a point of preserving enough white on the top of each shape. I was surprised that a relatively light background was enough to achieve the back-light effect.
