By the sea

Sunrise over the sea, watercolor 38 x 28 cm
This sunrise turned out a little rigid and "plastic". One almost expects to see a few Cupids behind the clouds ;) I was trying to depict that edge of light around the clouds when the sun lights them from the back. I think the light came out well, and my brushes are happy that they finally got to do some work.

By the sea, watercolor sketch
I did this sketch on location a month ago. Isn't it a happy scene?!

A beautyful sunrise. Not at all plastic. I think it´s lovely. The backlit clowds are so well painted. What yellow did you use?

I disagree the painting is great!

Thank you, Sadami, Catharina and Cathy!
To your question, Catharina, I used Hansa yellow closer to the sun and Indian yellow going away from it. Both are transparent, unlike Cadmium, which is more difficult for smooth washes.

The sunlight is stunning Blaga, and that dark and gloomy sea looks so oily , really perfect ! Love that happy vacation painting looks like an awesome place !

Sunset colors perfectly balanced, when everything becomes darker.
Very dramatic and intense the first scene, while second is truly idyllic scene ... Two watercolors powerful for two wonderful moments of a beautiful beach holiday!
Congratulations dear Blaga!
