Winter sunset

I think that in one of my previous postings I insulted Winter, and it took a revenge by dumping piles of snow today. So I decided to try and rectify the situation by painting another winter landscape. I used a photo with interesting afternoon light, by my favorite photographer, with whom I happen to be related. I wanted to do a free and loose interpretation of the view. First I did the smaller one below, where I fussed and fiddled too much. I like better how the one above turned out.

Good job Blaga, I like both of your winter landscapes, the fiddling ( YOU said so ) in the first one doesn't show at all, both look very spontaneous.

I like both too. The one above is more sunset-like.

Hi Blaga, I'm not sure which painting i like better? The bottom painting has a delightful sky and the top painting has a different feel, the tree and tracks in the snow intrigue me in the top painting. I like both paintings equally. Very beautiful and definetly not overworked.... I am the queen of that! (can't seem to stop myself from having all that fun with paint!)

Jane, Judy and Cathy, thank you very much for your comments. It is great to hear feedback, as we tend to be our most severe critics.

The interpretation is really beautiful!
There is much tenderness and grace in the entire picture and particularly - in the tree.
Its trunk and branches are so expressive as if they are in a special, harmonious motion of their own!
The tree is dancing with the winter.

I agree, I can't decide which one I like more. Each has its own characteristics. They each conveys different feelings. While, the first one is very exciting and fun. The later one is very tranquil. I like them both... Besides liking the paintings, I enjoy the fact that YOU are painting winter scenes ;)wink wink* Ok, you can hit me now... :)

Popokatepetl, thank you for the very beautiful words! I am glad that you liked the painting.

Ha, yes, you know that winter is not my favorite season. But I admit that it is beautiful at times. I was even thinking that while shoveling the foot-deep snow the other day. Thank you for visiting and for your comments!
