Forget-me-not

22 x 30 cm
This is one of my favorite flowers, painted from a last year's photo. There is still some snow outside and the brave little snowdrops are the only flowers that dared to show their heads above the frozen ground.

PS
If you don't see a close-up of a forget-me-not in this, don't feel bad. I had hard time persuading my mother too that that's how the flower looks from up close.

There is a longing for Spring in this painting!!! Wrong? Beautiful little bouquet, the white flowers are really enhanced by the background.

Very sunny painting! I like the background, for me that is the most difficult part.
We had a few nice days here, spring is coming!

Of course you're right, Jane, it is a call for spring :)

Judy, the background is far from perfect (needs a consistent direction of the brushstrokes as well as a consistent texture), but it isn't bad either. After this result I'm not so scared of backgrounds.

Thank you, Maria, I'm glad you liked it!

Hi Blaga, I really enjoy the colors in this painting. The lavender and blue are subtle and unexpected. The hint of yellow in the center is perfect. The backround is great. Backrounds can be so tricky. I always look at Kay Smith's ( on my blog roll) backrounds they are always so luminesent.

That's a very good work Blaga. I like very much the blues and lavender. A very springy work !

I'm glad you liked it, Cathy! And thank you for pointing me to Kay Ruth's blog, there is much to learn from her work.

Thank you, Hélène! your words are very encouraging.

It seems that the magic happened - it is 14 C outside today and it smells like spring!
