Maple leaves

Watercolor on Arches 28/38 cm
Yes, real colorful autumn leaves, which make you smile, not the Toronto hockey team with the same name, which can only make you cry...
The prime of the fall colors has passed and many trees have dropped their foliage. Yet, there are still some really beautiful individual trees. Some have all colors, smoothly transitioning, from bright red at the tips of the branches, through yellow and orange, to all green on the bottom branches. I gathered a large bunch of leaves during yesterday's walk, spread them on the desk and started painting. I did get into some serious fiddling, but at a second look today, decided that it's not too bad. So, here's my posting, as Canadian as it can get...

The pile of leaves on my desk

Hi Blaga, isn't this such a beautiful time of year. Halloween right around the corner, blowing leaves, crisp fall weather. I like your painting, can't you just see it as wrapping paper? beautiful lost and found edges:)

Every autumn I have this song humming in my head 'The Falling Leaves' or 'Les feulles Mortes' , love this song, and your beautiful leaves immediately triggered this song. And as Cathy said, such a lovely time of the year.

Beautifully painted Blaga. Not an easy subject at all but you have captured them with great skill and care. The leaves here are just starting to turn now :)

Beautiful painting Blaga! Lovely colours! The leaves I find in my front garden are a dirty brown and not very paintable.

Cathy, thank you for the nice comment! I don't like fall's cold weather, but the beautiful colors make up for it.

Oh, I love this song too, Jane, thank you for mentioning it! I used to love walking through the dry leaves piled on the city sidewalks back home in Sofia. But here they clean them right away...

Michael, Judy, thank you! The colors were so pretty and the details so intriguing that I fell in the trap of trying to depict too much detail.
