Scenes from Valletta

Between the world cup, gardening and catching up at work I finally found some time and energy to paint. The two value sketches, done during a couple of football matches, helped to get the motivation for the large paintings.
These two I did following Alvaro's technique, which is perfect for city scenes with stark contrasts of light and shade.

Thank you, Tito! I did feel more free and brave after having done the sketches. It is surprising how this helps.

Thank you so much, Judy! I was having fun painting these and am happy with the result, especially considering the size.

Light is the protagonist of these two landscapes that you painted with great skill. You have learned from Alvaro, but the style is your own. This, too, learn from others, being yourself is true wonderful.
Congratulations dear Blaga!!!!!

Thank you for your very nice words, Rita! It is interesting how certain subjects remind you of a given artist and seem to dictate using their techniques. I know that all different techniques and learned styles will gradually merge into more and more of my own style. I'll let it happen by itself.

Thank you, Jane! Light in the city is very interesting subject to me, with its different shapes throughout the day. And different color...

I admire artists who can draw buildings like this. It is very difficult. Lovely results from your value sketches Blaga.

Dear Jean, drawing buildings seems difficult if you try to put in every detail. It is surprising how little you actually need to do to suggest complex architectural elements. Thank you so much for your comment!

Dear Blaga, lovely sketches. I'm not good at architecture though, your work is good! Particularly, colour contrast is vivid and strong and eye pleasant. Just keep on sketching.
Best wiahwa, Sadami
