Sunflowers, watercolor on arches paper, 40 x 30 cm |
Summer is approaching its end. The greens outside are changing towards the yellow spectrum and soon the trees will start changing into their spectacular autumn costumes. The season of bright warm colors is coming and I feel the need to paint flowers again. I couldn't resist buying a bunch of sunflowers yesterday, and then, of course, they had to be painted...

Today, after so much heat and sunshine, 20 degrees celsius less ... But the summer is not over yet, and will fade in the autumn, with beautiful colors ... A special time to paint, as you have done today with sunflowers! A so beautiful bouquet now fresh forever! Have nice week, dear Blaga!
Beautiful warm colors, Blaga! I like your sunflowers very much, they are so difficult to paint! Indeed the time for autumn colors is approaching, we had a few cold days here.
Your sunflower painting is very beautiful. I like the light colors.
I got some as a gift on Friday and painted them and posted them yesterday! I know they are summer flowers but their colors sing fall to me, a season I like even better.
Wow, Blaga! What a beautiful vase of sunflowers, love the warm tone of the painting. Ciao.
It is still summer, Rita, but the nights are getting cooler, and to me that's the beginning of fall. But now I choose to look forward to the autumn colors, instead of fear the cold weather. Thank you for your comment!
Thank you, Judy! I have been falling behind on flower paintings lately ;) had to catch up.
Your painted sunflower bouquet is full of vigor and life, Lynn! Thank you, for visiting and for your comment!
Thank you, Tito, I am very glad you liked it!
I have mixed emotions about the end of summer - I'm not looking forward to the darker nights and not being able to get out for my treasured evening walks in the hills but I do love the colours of autumn/fall and the wildlife that will be around, your sunflowers are sublime!!
Oh, Sharon, it is actually very sad that the summer will end. I am like a lizard, just love the hot weather, so I am making an effort to be positive and to see the beauty in the change :) Thank you so much for your visit!
Hello Blaga:) Does this count for plein air too:)? I love your sunflowers. You did a great job on them!
He-he, Renate, it did include dealing with the sun and wind, drying my paper too quickly, so maybe half-plain air ;)
Thank you for your nice comment!
