Poppies in the wind

Poppies in the wind 1, watercolor, 28 x 33
Poppies in the wind 2, watercolor, 28 x 33
I have been quite busy lately, and after a break it is sometimes hard to get back to painting. I decided to try to do poppies with the simplest possible brushstrokes. I like the result. Maybe I'll explore this some more...

Dear Blaga you used, in a brilliant way, the "macchia "(splotch or stain of color, maybe). This italian word of the artistic tradition that concerns the paint is the first gesture of the watercolorist to define the forms. Back to watercolors through this way of painting you painted two beautiful compositions with great rythm and clear shining colors.Well done!

I like the result too, very fresh and transparent and a good sense of distance . I think you caught the essence of poppies !

Hi Blaga, I like your interpretation of the "poppies in the wind", I find them painted with freedom and naturalness. To me, both are beautiful. Ciao!

Thank you, Rita, for your nice comment. I always learn something from you. And now I even know a relation between my hobby and my favourite espresso macchiato :)
One of my weaknesses in painting is trying to go back and fix it, which kills the freshness. That's what I was trying to avoid here.

Gracias, Mercedes!

Thank you, Jane!

I love them! The simplest brushstrokes are often the most beautiful!
